Labor Day Trip to Hendersonville, NC: Breakfast and a Car Show

We headed out Friday afternoon on a road trip to Hendersonville, NC to visit my sister, brother-in-law, niece, and nephew.  The town's annual Apple Festival was going on and my mom and dad were also making the trip.  We had a wonderful, long weekend relaxing and spending time with family, perusing the Apple Festival, and eating lots of good food.

It is about a 6 hour drive for us so we didn't get to the hotel until late Friday night.  The cousins had a few minutes of "Papa time" before everybody headed to bed.

Saturday morning we had breakfast at a local Baptist church to support their fundraiser.

Eden liked Aunt Kristen's sweet potato crackers too!

Shoveling them in as fast as he can...

Eating breakfast with Mimi
Playing with Owen
Oh cousin love...
Playing with cups with Papa

Kellan just liked to crush the cups

Sleepy boy...
Next we stopped at a local car show...the babies couldn't hold their eyes open any longer...

The owner of this Model T has driven it as far north as Pennsylvania and south to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.  He said it can go faster than 35 miles per hour but with its wooden wheels, it brings a new meaning to "defensive driving" if he attempts higher speeds.
You have to crank it by hand!  He proudly told us that he could be in Myrtle Beach in 10 hours!  They were fun to look at but I think I'll stick to traveling in my modern vehicle.  It had the opposite effect on my dad...now he wants a Model T!

After the car show we headed to the Apple Festival...check out tomorrow's post to see what we got into!

  1. I'm excited about tomorrow post. I LOVE the apple festival. Roger's family is from Hendersonville and that apple slushie at the festival is my favorite!
