I still love to tip-toe into Kellan's room at night and watch him sleep. If he happens to look particularly cute (which is every time) I run out to grab my phone to come back and take a picture. Here are a few of my favorites over the last few weeks...
He likes to sleep curled up in a ball lately with his arms tucked under him.
He put his hands over his face when my flash came on...lucky for me he didn't wake up :)
Every now and then Kellan will cry and put up a huge fight when we put him in his crib...its not often but it does happen. Instead of fighting with him, Michael will put him in the bed with him until I come to bed...then mommy has to be the bad guy and move him back to his crib. He never wakes up so its really not that big of a deal but its so hard to pick him up when he's sleeping so good. Some nights I am tempted to just leave him with us but this is how he sleeps...sideways. It is the most uncomfortable night's sleep because he kicks and takes up the majority of our king size bed. Its just easier to go ahead and move him instead of waking up in the middle of the night with feet in your face and having no where to go because you're already hanging on to the side.
Sweet little boy...always snuggled with a blankie. He is not difficult to please. He has always loved the plain old thin receiving blankets as long as they have a long tag. He won't stay covered up and if you try he will immediately kick it off even if he is sound asleep.
Another favorite pose is completely stretched out with arms up.
Oh how I love those fat little feet and toes :)
Here are some flashback pictures to when Kellan was between 6 and 7 months old and a link to that blog post:
We are still in Portland and will be flying home tomorrow but I wanted to go ahead and do one quick post about our travel day. We have taken SO MANY pictures and have seen so many places, I know there are going to be A LOT of Oregon posts about our travels. I better go ahead and get started!
And a special Happy, happy birthday to my mom and Kellan's Mimi! We love and miss her soooo much and will see her when we get back!
Great Papa came by our house to see Kellan before we left for Washington, D.C. for our flight.
In the parking lot at the airport with all of our luggage. We have so much stuff!! We are trying to teach Kellan to hold up one finger for "I'm one year old." Sometimes he gets it and sometimes he looks at us like we're crazy but we still have a couple of weeks :)
Daddy had sushi before we boarded...
Mommy had Potbelly's
Entertaining Kellan at the airport...
Is there a baby out there that doesn't laugh hysterically when you smell his feet?
If there is an empty seat available, you don't have to pay for a seat for babies under 2. We lucked out and had available seats on our flight to Denver and on to Portland. He was sooo good and slept most of the flight.
We had a short layover in Denver but we continued on in the same airplane. We took turns walking Kellan up and down the aisles to entertain him and stretch those chubby legs! Notice that he is wearing his "FEED ME!" shirt that Papa Mike brought him back from the Bahamas.
And last is a kind of terrible video that Michael filmed while I was taking Kellan on a walk. It is blurry off and on and I don't know why he takes pictures while he's filming because it clicks during the video. Oh well...you can see the flight attendant stop us to pinch Kellan's fat legs :)
Look out soon for more posts full of our trip down the Oregon coast, Crater Lake National Park, Mt. Hood, the Columbia River Gorge, Mt. St. Helens, lots of Washington and Oregon lighthouses, hikes to waterfalls, and of course Portland! I may be blogging about this trip until Christmas! :)
We stayed in Hendersonville until Monday afternoon so here are some pictures of our adventures Sunday night and Monday morning before we headed back home.
Sunday night we went back to the Apple Festival to get more apple treats and to check out the booths that we missed on our first trip. I had a fried apple pie and it was soooo good (even though I was really full from dinner at Binions Roadhouse and the thought of more food made me sick...I ate it anyway). My parents got fried apple pies to go and Jess and Shannon got more apple slushies.
Right before I took this picture Owen crawled out of the stroller and said "Oh I don't need to be in this picture." Haha...what a mess!
This little boy was showing Kellan the puppets he was selling at his booth. He loved that thing!
And then mommy made Kellan take pictures with all of the animals...first...the goat with ice cream on his face
He was not very fond of Mr. Bear
He didn't mind the bear with the ice cream as much...
Riding the goat with Owen
This picture cracks me up...oh that Owen! :)
Sunday night there was a band performing on the stage in front of the courthouse. Owen loves to dance so he started a dance party...
Kellan tried to join in...with his spoon..
Eden did not participate...
Monday morning we had breakfast at Fireside
This little piggy ate an entire avocado and a whole banana
Look at that belly...he had to be stuffed
Riding the alligator
Feeding the alligator some grass and petting him before we left
