Most of this is due to the fact that we are still giving him a bath in his little whale tub on the bathroom counter. Kellan is starting to get HEAVY and when you top that with being soapy and wet, he is a slippery little fella. So last night when bath time came and went and daddy wasn't home yet I decided we were going to try the big tub since he can sit up by himself now. I tossed in several bath toys that he has not used yet and got his bubble bath ready. He was so curious about everything that he didn't even do much other than look around the tub and pat the water and bubbles over and over. We also need to get some kind of non-slip pad to go in the bottom of the tub because his little behind was sliding from one end to the other! We have a fire duck faucet cover from our friends Bracey and Kevin that I forgot to put on with all of the running around I was doing to get him in the tub! I will have to say bathtime in the big tub was much easier when you are by youself! I'm sure once Kellan gets used to it he's going to have so much fun playing with all of his toys!

Kellan's New PJ's!
*FYI* To anyone that has been trying to comment but couldn't, I have changed the settings so that everyone should be able to leave a comment now!
Kellan is quickly outgrowing the pajamas that he has been wearing so on our recent trip to Williamsburg we stocked him up! It is crazy how few choices there are for boys versus girls! Our choices got even slimmer when we stuck to 100% cotton. We still managed to get some cute sets from Carter's to last him for a little while at least. These are all 12 months sizes!

Weekend Review in Pictures
We had another busy weekend starting out with a visit from Kimberlee Friday night! Kimberlee's boyfriend is living in Washington, D.C. this summer so she was meeting him in Richmond on Saturday morning. She drove up on Friday night and stayed with us!. There was lots of playing going on, along with time in the walker and feeding him dinner. I can not believe I did not get a picture!! We're hoping to have lots of visits with Kimberlee this summer! We grilled steak and chicken and had baked sweet potatoes and salad. I should have taken a picture to prove that we do cook at home!
Just a couple of months ago Michael finished building a house for us to rent out. A couple moved in and are planning on buying it in the next few months. They had a house warming party on Saturday afternoon so we stopped by to sample some ribs and chocolate cupcakes...and I snuck a white chocolate macadamia cookie too...it was all delicious!
Michael and I have been "church hopping" lately. We are visiting several of the local churches and trying to settle on one to consider joining. Michael says we need to get permanent visitor tags made and we'll just rotate through all of them! Here is little doodle all dressed and ready for church in his new Osh Kosh overalls.
After Target, Michael suggested we have Mexican food since he wasn't that hungry. Haha. I LOVE Mexican and could eat it all the time but Michael does not really care for it. We hardly ever go to Mexican restaurants because its not enjoyable for me to eat somewhere with someone that doesn't really like what they are eating! When I lived in Raleigh I probably ate Mexican at least once a week and I miss El Senor and El Rodeo there so much! No where that I have eaten up here even comes close to being as good! I really do not care for the restaurant in town and rarely eat there unless I'm meeting a group. I can eat there and its ok but its not my first choice. El Caporal is in Colonial Heights and its pretty good.
This was a great finish to another full weekend. Now we have a pretty slow week coming up with a visit to Rockingham this weekend! I can't wait to see my little nephew Owen and niece Eden and my cousin Dana's baby girl, Brooklyn! And I guess it will be nice to see my sister Jessica and her husband Shannon, mom and dad, and other family too ;) Its true what they say, once you have kids, no one gets excited about seeing the adults anymore!

Daddy and Kellan at Tyler and Erica's Housewarming Party |
I posted about going to Aunt Mary's birthday party on Sunday afternoon but here is what we did after the party. A couple of weeks ago our computer went on the blink so we dropped it off at Best Buy to be fixed. They called to say it was ready so we hurried to Colonial Heights to pick it up before they closed. We made it with 5 minutes to spare! We had been using Michael's old laptop that had a huge black line down the center and a keyboard with a few missing keys. Boy are we glad to have our new laptop back!! It was kind of hard to blog with a thick black line going through the center of the screen. We also made a quick stop at Target.
I don't know if I've mentioned how much Kellan loves a TV. He was in awe of the TV aisle at Target. |
My favorite Mexican meal! Chicken enchilada and chicken quesadilla with rice and beans! And Michael's chicken and vegetables with rice and beans. |

Carytown!
OK so once again this is going to look like a food blog post but its really supposed to be documenting our awesome Thursday night in Carytown...we just happened to eat while we were there! The real reason for being in Richmond at all was to shop at Whole Foods. Kellan is quickly approaching 8 months and this will bring on a whole new menu of foods for him to try so I wanted to go ahead and stock up so I can start preparing and freezing.
Back in January I bought a Living Social deal to Carytown Cupcakes for a half dozen. It expires in June and when I bought it June seemed so far away! Well here it is June and I had still been riding around with my coupon in the car! We decided to cash it in while we were passing through on our way to Short Pump.
Next on the agenda, we were looking for somewhere to eat dinner. You're shocked I know! Us, eat?! We have a problem in our relationship because all Michael ever wants to eat is sushi or a Japanese Steakhouse. I like both but don't want them nearly as often as him. We walked up and down Cary Street looking at restaurant menus to find one that looked good. There are tons of choices just in this one area so making a decision was difficult. We had eaten at the Water Grill once before and it was delicious but I wanted to try something new. We settled on Moshi Moshi, an Asian fusion restaurant, that had sushi but also had lots of other options. I didn't mention that the weather was absolutely beautiful that night so on top of having a great menu, this restaurant also had outdoor seating. I LOVE to sit outside when the weather is nice, plus it made it very easy for us with Kellan in his stroller. We just pulled him right up to the table.
The food was great and I would definitely recommend the restaurant. If nothing else we enjoyed just strolling along with Kellan checking out all of the specialty shops along the way and people watching. I also found this store that I am super excited about when the time comes!
No I'm not pregnant but when we do decide to welcome Baby #2 I will have to visit this place! Cute maternity clothes are extremely hard to come by!
Next we headed to Whole Foods for a shopping extravaganza but unfortuantely I didn't take any pictures of Michael digging in the sugar scrubs. I tried to make him recreate the moment of him scooping out the scrub he just couldn't leave the store without but he said "No, you're going to put it on that blog!" There will be more posts in the future about Kellan's new foods and how he liked them!

Great Aunt Mary's 88th Birthday Party
Sunday afternoon we met Michael's mom's side of the family at Cracker Barrel to celebrate his Great Aunt Mary's 88th birthday! She is absolutely THE CUTEST little lady! I totally enjoyed just sitting at the table watching her talk and laugh with her sisters, one of whom is Michael's grandma, and other family members. She was OVERJOYED and giggling in her excitement when she opened a new pair of bedroom slippers! We were also able to visit with extended family that lives out of town and we do not get to see very often. Kellan also did his share of entertaining and was passed around the table by his many admirers. He is at the stage where he has to touch and grab everything within his reach. He kept everyone busy moving silverware, food, napkins and drinks. It was a fun afternoon and we had a great time celebrating a sweet lady! Aunt Mary's daughter said not only was she proud of her mother for making it to 88, but to be 88 and still live at home, take care of herself, and prides herself on being independent and does not like to ask for help. Happy Birthday Aunt Mary! We are so glad we were able to celebrate with you!

Kellan and the Doggies
We went to visit Michael's dad, Papa Mike, this week to meet his new puppy Maryanna. She's a black lab and she is so sweet and happy. She was pouncing all over the vines, her stick, and a toy duck! She thoroughly inspected Kellan, licking his hands, feet and even face. Kellan was not sure what he thought about Maryanna quite yet.
This past weekend we also kept Michael's dog Maverick (who lives at his mom's house) at our house while Gigi went to the beach...Kellan kept smiling at him and loved to grab his ears and fur...luckily Maverick is a patient dog!
2 doggies in one week! One day soon Kellan is going to be running around chasing after them! Let's hope so anyway...hopefully he's not like his mommy who was deathly afraid of dogs her whole childhood!!
